A new film is set to be shot in the Northern Territory next year, with the Katherine region and stunning Nitmiluk National Park as an important feature.

The film Top End Wedding is being produced by Goalpost Pictures and Kojo Entertainment.

It reunites the team from the hit film The Sapphires with director Wayne Blair, producers Rosemary Blight and Kylie du Fresne and star Miranda Tapsell.

The film centres around Lauren and Ned – a young couple who are engaged and in love, and they have just ten days to find Lauren’s mother who has gone AWOL somewhere in the NT, reunite her parents and pull off their dream Top End Wedding.

A part of the team came to Katherine last week to meet with the Jawoyn Association, Nitmiluk Tours and other groups including the Katherine Town Council and Katherine Regional Arts.

Miranda Tapsell, who also co-wrote the script with Joshua Tyler, popped into the rangers office to say hello and hear all about the work our rangers do.

It was great to welcome the team to Katherine and we look forward to continuing to speak to them about their exciting film project.
